G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (GBPNIHE) was established during Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Birth centenary year in August 1988 as an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Clmiate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India.
