Taxonomy

 

A system of nested categories (taxa) reflecting evolutionary relationships or morphological similarities.

 
Thermosphere

 

The biggest of all the layers of the Earth's atmosphere directly above the mesosphere and directly below the exosphere. Within this layer, ultraviolet radiation causes ionization.

 
Thermoneutral zone

 

The range of environmental temperatures for an endotherm over which it has to exert the minimum metabolic effort in order to maintain a constant body temperature.

 
Topography

 

Representation of the physical structure of an environment.

 
Transpiration

 

The process by which water vapor is lost from plants, evaporating from cell walls just below the surface of the leaf and diffusing into the air through small stomatal pores.

 
Tree cover

 

It comprises of tree patches outside the recorded forest area exclusive of forest cover and less than the minimum mappable area (1 ha) .

 
Tree line

 

The upper limit of tree growth in mountains or high latitudes. It is more elevated or more poleward than the forest line.

 
Tundra

 

The biome that occurs around the Arctic circle, characterized by lichens, mosses, sedges and dwarf trees.
