Habitat

(1) The place or type of site where an organism or population naturally occurs.

(2) Terrestrial or aquatic areas distinguished by geographic, abiotic and biotic features, whether entirely natural or semi-natural.

Habitat diversity

The range of habitats present in a region.

Hazardous waste

By-products of society that can pose a substantial or potential hazard to human health or the environment when improperly managed. Substances classified as hazardous wastes possess at least one of four characteristics: ignitability, corrosivity, reactivity or toxicity, or appear on special lists.

Herbicide

A pesticide designed to control or kill plants, weeds or grasses. Almost 70% of all pesticides used by farmers are herbicides. These chemicals have wide-ranging effects on non-target species (other than those the pesticide is meant to control).

Hydrology

Organic waste, typically coming from plant or animal sources (for example food scraps and paper), which other living organisms can break down.
