ENVIS Centre on Himalayan Ecology at G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Evironment and Development (GBPIHED) was established in 1992 with the financial support from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, New Delhi. The Centre is collecting, collating, compiling and building quantitative and qualitative databases of information related to various aspects of Himalayan Ecology. Through print/electronic media, the Centre is regularly disseminating all available information, free of cost, to the various stakeholders/users, which mainly includes all District Information Centres(operating in the Himalayan states of the country),ENVIS Centres,Universities/University Campuses,Research Centers, NGOs, Institutions, and Experts working in the Indian Himalayan region.
